Functioning Structure (draft)

Initially, members will be charged a joining fee and thereafter a small monthly fee and a percentage of their sales to cover shop expenses. This commission will be proportionate to their time spent running the shop. Members will agree to a contract outlining the rules of engagement. Failure to meet these rules or certain actions could result in a review and possible termination of membership.

Products of non-members will be held on consignment; however, they will be charged a higher commission rate on sales.

Members responsibilities:

  • Maintain well-stocked and attractive shelves
  • Volunteer for shop duties (which will be rewarded with lower commission rates)
  • Contribute skills or expertise to cooperative activities such as workshops
  • Fulfil additional roles for the operation of the collective
  • Attend monthly meetings

We will finalize the structure after consulting with a lawyer and securing the funding.
